About Pyramids of Giza

On the Giza plateau outside Cairo stand three great pyramids built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, guarded by the Great Sphinx.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu, completed around 2560 BCE, was the tallest human-made structure on Earth for more than 3,800 years. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing.

The pyramids are part of the UNESCO World Heritage site "Memphis and its Necropolis – the Pyramid Fields from Giza to Dahshur", inscribed in 1979.
